In the age of Web 2.0 cooperation with an Austrian-American start-up enterprise like Tupalo.com is an important strategic investment for HEROLD.
Tupalo.com’s Social Yellow Pages were launched in Vienna in 2007. Users have the opportunity to discover, rate, and describe various businesses, locally as well as worldwide. Reviews and ratings by local residents are collected, providing a helpful source of information for locals as well as for tourists in search of the best restaurants, clubs, bars, pubs, shops, etc. Even now, Tupalo.com’s platform offers information on more than 25.000 spots, such as restaurants, bars and shops, to urban users.
HEROLD has acquired a 24 percent share of this Austrian-American business startup. By agreement, HEROLD has also secured an option for the acquisition of a majority stake. Within the framework of the strategic partnership HEROLD will not only provide capital but also make available to the Tupalo community a major part of the Yellow Pages data on Austrian businesses.
On http://www.herold.at, every entry which also appears on Tupalo will from now on include a link, “Rate this business on Tupalo.” Thus, HEROLD.at users will be able to give their opinion on a business according to their own personal experience which will appear on Tupalo. User-generated comments will only be published on http://tupalo.com/de/ for the time being, but it is intended to incorporate them into http://www.herold.at in the future.
